JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Residency Coordinator for the Department of Pathology provides direction, leadership, and day-to-day management and continuity of the educational and departmental activities related to the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) program requirements and accredited programs. This position assists the residency program director in maintaining residency accreditation and provides educational coordination between attending physicians, residents, medical students, and administrative staff, as well as the institutional and regulatory bodies.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Monitors educational curriculum to ensure the program is current with requirements for accreditation from national educational/professional/regulatory organizations (ACGME, CAP, ABP, RRC, and NRMP).

Prepares and compiles special project reports including accreditation site visit reports, maintains appropriate records and annual reports, and maintains departmental information related to regulatory organizations.

Assists with resident recruitment and selection through ERAS and participates in the resident rank process through NRMP.

Maintains data collection and entry into ACGME resident case log system and WEBAds.

Coordinates the Department of Pathology special projects such as Resident Research Day and resident orientation.

Assists program director in developing/updating residency-related policies, schedules, and educational activities.

Composes and prepares privileged and confidential residency program correspondence and documentation.

Maintains department Chair’s Outlook calendar and monitors for accuracy of time and location of meetings; communicates scheduling conflicts and/or cancellations.

Reviews malpractice insurance, licenses, and certificates for faculty attendings.

Manages budget reports from departmental expense accounts.

Participates in data compiling, reporting, and scheduling annual faculty evaluations.

Performs other related duties assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

 

EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years of related experience OR a Bachelor’s Degree and one (1) year of related experience. (Previous experience in an academic medical center is preferred.) 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Effective communication and organizational skills.

Ability to problem solve.

Ability to interact with a diverse group including executive staff, physicians, residents, managers, supervisors, etc.

Ability to develop and create short and long-term goals for the residency program.
