Description: The Financial and Human Resource Specialist reports to the Business Manager of F&A- SSO, serving as the financial and human resources (HR) specialist. The primary responsibility of this position includes processing accounts payable transactions, human resource functions, and aiding with travel requests and expense reports. This position performs the daily activities relative to the campus business office. Must be able to work independently and complete assignments accurately and on-time. These duties must be performed within the parameters of the university’s fiscal policies. In doing so, it is the responsibility of the person who holds this position to remain knowledgeable regarding these policies and procedures in order to ensure compliance.
Qualifications
Position Responsibilities:
– Handle new hire paperwork, including e-verification, for staff and students
– Collaborate with the Business Manager to onboard new staff
– Manage the hiring/recruiting process, from developing position descriptions to making offers to candidates
– Manage the new hire and termination processes for staff and students within IRIS
– Serve as a Shared Services point of contact for new hires and provide expertise on HR matters.
– Manage onboarding and offboarding processes by communicating requirements for both.
– Process pay and additional pay request as directed by management
– Maintain departmental files and records.
– Provide guidance and training to department administrative assistants on HR issues
– Work as a functional HR expert and liaison, fostering collaboration with other campus units.
– Create, deliver, and asses training related to HR functions within the division.
– Assist hiring managers throughout the entire hiring process, from position description development to candidate interviews and finalizing the hiring process.

Required:
Education: High school diploma
Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· 2 or more years in an office setting, including significant experience with human resources duties such as assisting with with drafting position descriptions and announcements, making personnel appointments in an ERP system, terminating appointments, scheduling interviews, reporting and processing various HR documents.
· Ability to prioritize and manage complex projects in a fast-paced environment maintaining attention to detail and accuracy
· Excellent administrative and problem solving skills
· Strong interpersonal, time management, communication, and organizational skills
· Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
· Proficient ability with spreadsheets, databases, and accounting software
· Knowledge of accounting principles
· Commitment to providing excellent customer services to SSO clients
Preferred:
Education: Vocational or technical training, Associate’s, or Bachelor’s in business field
Five years working in an office setting, preferably in a college or university, including with various human resources transactions, working with the hiring process, and/or accounting experience.
Experience with Taleo, IRIS, or Oracle software, experience in higher education, including HR transactions, hiring processes, and/or accounting experience.
