Primary Purpose of Department:
The Academic Budget Team within Academic Affairs supports budget and resource management for colleges and academic support units reporting to the Provost and Vice Chancellor. There are approximately 20 colleges and units supported with annual operations in excess of $350 million, nearly one-third of the university’s annual operating budget. The Academic Budget Team collectively provides support and guidance to college and unit leadership and business and administrative support staff.
Primary Purpose of Position:
This position serves on a team of six and works collaboratively to support budget and resource management for the Academic Affairs division. The Academic Affairs budget team collectively supports budget and financial activity and provides guidance for approximately 100 business and administrative staff in the division.
Summary of Position Responsibilities:
Performs a range of financial and accounting related duties in support of the Division of Academic Affairs: financial monitoring and analysis, professional knowledge in the areas of budget and resource management, decision-making and problem-solving skills to ensure effective operations, communications and interpersonal skills to build effective working relationships and achieve division mission, build and maintain business partnerships to effectively support division colleges and academic support units.
Minimum Education/Experience:
Master’s degree; or Bachelor’s degree and 0-2 years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Bachelors degree in business administration or related field.
Five years of experience preferably in a college or university setting; demonstrated experience in an accounting or financial role.
Intermediate technical skills using a wide range of systems; analytical and problem-solving skills; detail-oriented; interpersonal skills showing empathy and understanding; service orientation.
