About the College/Unit/Department:
The Asset Management Office serves the University by providing support with policies, standards and guidelines for the effective management of tangible, movable equipment in the custody of the University. By using the Asset Management module within UGA Financial Management and procedures such as the annual physical inventory, the Asset Management Office partners with the University community to ensure all tangible property is utilized, tracked and disposed of in an efficient and effective manner.

Position Summary:
The Surplus Property Manager oversees all aspects of surplus or unneeded property of the University. This includes managing the day to day activities of the surplus warehouse, assisting units in receiving/acquiring surplus equipment to/from outside entities and the disposal of all UGA surplus property. This position coordinates with Georgia Department of Administrative Services Surplus Division to ensure compliance when processing surplus property transactions.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies:
Knowledge of strategic thinking, plan development, execution of solutions and leading others.
Skills in the use of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Access. Willing and capable of learning new programs and software as required.
Maintaining a positive professional relationship with customers, administrators, and colleagues.
Involves skills to organizing and manage the inflow and outflow of surplus property.
Physical Demands:
Lifting and moving moderate to heavy equipment within a warehouse setting. Moving equipment up and down stairs and uneven surfaces within various UGA buildings. Driving.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Ensure the proper re-utilization, acquisition and recycling of all surplus equipment, agricultural commodities, and miscellaneous property owned by or under the custodial responsibility of the University of Georgia. Assist departments when acquiring or disposing of surplus property in an effort to reduce expenditures and identify the most efficient and proper method to dispose of the property. This includes state and federal property. Ensure the University is operating in compliance with all state and federal laws as well as UGA, USG, DOAS Surplus Division polices regarding surplus property.

Duties/Responsibilities:
Effectively and efficiently operate the UGA Surplus Warehouse. Provide courteous assistance to visitors. Ensure any and all transactions are properly documented, organized and appropriate per UGA, USG and DOAS Surplus Division policies. Secure property until final disposition is identified. Continuously evaluate surplus polices and procedures in an effort to increase efficiency.

Conduct sales in accordance with Georgia DOAS Surplus Division policies/procedures and UGA guidelines. Ensure accuracy and transparency in the bid process, distribution of proceeds from sales, timely deposits, and correct classification of deposits.
