About the College/Unit/Department:
The Department of Financial Planning, Housing, and Consumer Economics is one of the four academic units in the College of Family and Consumer Sciences. It offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees with an enrollment of approximately 320 undergraduate and 90 graduate students. Undergraduate programs include Consumer Economics (with an optional emphasis in Applied Consumer Analytics), Social Entrepreneurship, Financial Planning, and Housing Management and Policy (with an optional emphasis in Residential Property Management). The Department is staffed by 20 faculty members with expertise in consumer decision making, consumer and family policy, financial literacy, financial planning, housing, and residential property management. Extension and public service faculty provide practical, research-based information to Georgia residents to improve quality of lives and communities. The department provides research and outreach in support of local government through the Housing and Demographics Research Center.

Position Summary:
The Department of Financial Planning, Housing and Consumer Economics at the University of Georgia invites applications for the position of Lecturer (nine months, academic appointment, non-tenure track, 100% teaching) in Financial Planning and Consumer Economics.
The faculty member will have a 100% Teaching nine-month, full time appointment in the Department of Financial Planning, Housing, and Consumer Economics, but will be expected to collaborate across campus on teaching and outreach. The primary teaching assignment for the individual filling this position will be 4 courses every semester. These include teaching courses in financial planning and consumer economics. The hired faculty member will be expected to mentor undergraduate students, lead students to academic and professional conferences, student competitions, help with promoting and developing the financial planning program, and participate in departmental and collegiate governance and professional organizations, and pursue active membership in relevant professional organizations.
Additional Requirements:
Expertise in the areas of financial planning and consumer economics.
Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, and/or Certification:
At least one degree in Family and Consumer Sciences is preferred. Demonstrated expertise in the areas of financial planning and consumer economics.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies:
The hired faculty should be knowledgeable of the CFP® certification processes and standards.
