Position Summary:
This incumbent supports the daily operations and activities in the Office of Academic Affairs and serves as the primary support for the Assistant Deans of Academic & Faculty Affairs. It coordinates several communication functions for the College of Agricultural & Environmental Sciences’ (CAES) Office of Academic Affairs student engagement efforts. The person in this role uses discretion in planning and implementing communications efforts which include writing for digital media and promotional materials, social media management, and other communications techniques to achieve the Office’s goals. This position is also the point of contact for communicating student-related information to the CAES student body. In addition, this role manages the Spring Break Tour Through Georgia Agriculture and CAES Undergraduate Research Symposium, along with providing program support for the FABricate Entrepreneurial Initiative, CAES Graduate Awards Reception, Rural Scholars’ weekend, Orientation 2.0, CAES Student Awards and Recognition Banquet, CAES Study Abroad, student recruitment efforts, and various other Academic Affairs initiatives. They work closely on behalf of the CAES Office of Academic Affairs with the College’s Office of Marketing and Communications, Office of Development and Alumni Relations, and other stakeholders and are responsible for ensuring that Academic Affairs communications are in-line with the broader campus messages at UGA. The employee is responsible for maintaining up-to-date knowledge on campus-wide communications, innovative social media strategies, and best practices for interacting with CAES students and the larger audience at UGA.
