Position Highlights
The Department of Geosciences seeks an employee who will work as part of a team to prepare biogenic carbonate samples from the global oceans for analysis of organic matter content in marine biomineralizers (namely corals and mollusks). This involves subsampling, weighing, and combusting at high temperature for Loss On Ignition (LOI) analysis of organic matter content. Under the direction of Dr. Diane Thompson and Dr. Dan Killam, the employee will also learn how these data relate to the geochemistry of the skeletal material, as well as the implications for paleoclimate reconstructions.
