Posting Number: req12830
Department: ENGR Business Services-OEBC
Location: Main Campus
Address: Tucson, AZ USA
Position Highlights
The Director, Finance and Administration (Administrative Operations Manager IV) is the lead administrator for the Old Engineering Business Center, OEBC. The business center serves two academic departments in the college — Biomedical Engineering, and Systems and Industrial Engineering, and an administrative unit–Academic affairs, and the newly established software engineering program. OEBC supports approximately 67 faculty, 287 grad students and 1,860 undergrads, and an active and complex research projects portfolio whose FY22 expenditures exceeded $5M, overall total expenditures exceeded $18M.
This position plays an essential role in the engineering business community and reports to the assistant dean of finance and administration. The director is expected to work independently under broad direction and provide training and work direction to the Business Center staff. Responsibilities of the director are complex and difficult in ways such as problem solving for which no clear precedent exists: greater than average responsibility for specialized, relatively complicated large assignments where overall impact is high; solving technical and managerial problems beyond normal transaction management or those that are unique and or non-recurring. Expertise, leadership, and mentoring are expected from the director in all areas of the Business Center scope of work, especially in the area of communications and consultation with Department Heads and associate deans during the annual budget preparation process, which requires significant skill and experience. This position will also play an integral part in establishing the support structure for the new Biomedical Engineering department at the Phoenix campus.
Outstanding UA benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance plans; life insurance and disability programs; paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays; UA/ASU/NAU tuition reduction for the employee and qualified family members; state and optional retirement plans; access to UA recreation and cultural activities; and more!
