ABOUT THE POSITION: The Department of English at The University of Alabama in Huntsville invites applications for a
full-time Lecturer appointment beginning Fall 2024. We seek applicants who welcome serving as part of a diverse and talented faculty who can
assist with curricular needs in both the English department and the Writing program.
Responsibilities: The
regular teaching load is four courses (12 credit hours) per semester and may include online, hybrid, and traditional formats. The successful
candidate will teach creative writing courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. They will also teach first-year writing classes.
Additionally, they may be asked to teach sophomore literature surveys for our Charger Foundations (general education) program. They will
also be expected to perform department service as part of their appointment. Additionally, the ideal candidate will be able to support one
of our college’s interdisciplinary minors, such as Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies or Justice and Equity Studies.
Qualifications: Candidates must hold an MFA or a PhD in Creative Writing. Creative writers working in all genres
(fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, &/or genre fiction) are welcome to apply. The ideal candidate will be a creative writer invested
in pedagogical excellence with experience teaching at the collegiate level.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT: The English Department at UAH is composed of faculty committed to the promotion of literacies
and the cultivation of scholarly and professional competencies in critical thinking and persuasive writing across a wide spectrum of
literary, technical, and rhetorical situations. We foster intellectual and cultural diversity, originality of thought, and clarity and
cogency of expression through degree programs designed to advance careful, sophisticated reading practices as well as complex analytical and
research skills. We aim to cultivate our students’ management, organization, and production of knowledge. The department also houses
the VUE lab which supports student and faculty research projects with eye-tracking tools, heart rate monitoring, and AR technology.
ABOUT THE COLLEGE: The College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences at The University of Alabama in
Huntsville comprises 9 departments and 87 full-time faculty. We offer a wide array of programs in the arts, humanities, and social
