Job Summary: The Program Manager provides oversight and planning for the development, implementation, and delivery of a program(s).
Additional Department Summary: The College of Arts and Sciences at The University of Alabama seeks candidates for the position of Community Engagement & Career Development Program Manager. Position works to build and foster strategic partnerships with local, national, and international community organizations and industry. Position supports students and faculty develop and sustain community engaged activities as well as identify and communicate career opportunities. Position also serves as a liaison with Career Service and the Center for Leadership and Service.
Under the direction of the Associate Dean for International Programs and Experiential Learning, this position is a central component of the college-wide initiative to expand the A&S Initiative: ICUE: International Programs, Community Engagement, Undergraduate Research, and Experiential Learning, which will provide a central location (virtual and physical) where faculty and students gain access to resources and programming aimed to create a transformational academic student experience combining experiential learning, community engagement, and high-impact practices.
As part of the ICUE Connector team, the Community Engagement & Career Development Program Manager works closely with the Experiential Learning Program Manager, the Coordinator for Undergraduate Research, and the Associate Dean for International Programs.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree and two (2) years of experience, OR a Master’s degree and some experience.
Skills and Knowledge: Strong organizational and time management skills. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Effective public relations skills to include public speaking. Knowledge of personal computers and standard software programs (i.e., word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s or doctorate degree in a relevant field. Experience with developing community and industry partnerships, advising and supporting students and faculty, facilitating professional development workshops and seminars, seeking externally funded grants and contracts, and administrative experience in higher education.
The candidate should demonstrate success in writing and work well in teams as well as independently.
