Normal Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00am to 4:45pm
Job Summary: Responsible for building and maintaining effective communication among their respective college/department/division, The University of Alabama, and all community and education stakeholders. Responsible for increasing and maintaining alumni relations in their respective college, department, or division, as well as planning and implementing special events.
Additional Department Summary: The Culverhouse Alumni Relations Coordinator plans, organizes and directs programs of young alumni engagement and experiential learning alumni gatherings. The position also works with the Executive Director and Director of External Relations in all events happening with Culverhouse including the Culverhouse Board of Visitors, donor stewardship, donor recognition, student philanthropy and VIP recruitment.
This position requires excellent communication and marketing skills necessary to coordinate and implement ideas with department heads, faculty, staff, alumni, corporations, and UA administrators. It includes engagement with and oversight of young alumni initiatives, personal visits with alumni, and constant communication with donors and alumni. This position requires great attention to detail, excellent organization skills and frequent travel as well as interacting with alumni in high-level executive positions. Collaborates with the Dean, Executive Director of External Relations, Executive Director of Development, Director of External Relations, Director of Marketing and other constituencies. Executes the Director of External Relations overall strategic young alumni plan for the College in accordance with the mission of the College and the University.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and two (2) years of work experience.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Frequent travel required. Must have a valid U.S. driver’s license. Must be at least 19 years of age at the time of hire and have and maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.
Skills and Knowledge: A keen understanding of marketing principles that can be applied in alumni, corporate and external relations. Ability to gain acceptance by all age groups of people in the corporate, alumni and University communities. High energy level and ability to initiate new projects and programs, then manage implementation of such. Ability to plan, organize and carry out alumni relations projects required. A working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, & presentation software (such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint). Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with varying levels of University, alumni, corporate and community environments. Proven track record of problem solving and strategic planning. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Platform presence and ability to present data effectively to large groups of diverse constituencies.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising/Public Relations, Communications or Business and two (2) years of experience in marketing, advertising, public relations, communication, business or recruiting.
