The Learning and Organization Development (LOD) unit at Ohio State University Extension connects our Key values of trust, inclusion, care, adaptability, and efficiency to life through the products and programs we develop to elevate employees’ experiences. We are seeking a creative leader who is passionate about adult education, leadership development, professional development, workforce development, organizational learning, and building community within a statewide, diverse workforce. This person should be a thought leader in these areas to drive the development of a constantly changing and diverse workforce made up of multiple generations and learning needs. Must be a masterful trainer, teacher, and facilitator who easily connects with people.
This person leads and supervises three team members to establish work priorities and create and monitor project/task plans to develop and implement the organization’s employee learning experience, including (but not limited to): leadership development, soft skills development, organization development, and coaching of leaders and individual contributors. Facilitates leadership and learning training programs throughout the employee life cycle using adult learning theories and principles (including andragogy, experiential, transformative, project, or self-paced learning). Monitors and applies relevant current research related to the fields of adult education and learning and workforce development. Applies instructional design principles in the development of products.
Must establish collaborative relationships with OSU Operations, the OSU Leadership Center and the Agricultural Communication, Education, and Leadership (ACEL) department, other colleagues in the College of Food, Agriculture, and Environmental Sciences, other colleges within the University, and regional and national professional associations to identify and access resources that can be leveraged for professional development.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Advanced degree in relevant field may be desirable. TESOL. 6 years of relevant experience required. 8-12 years of relevant experience preferred.
This position reports to the Learning and Organizational Development Director. Must be able to travel both in-state and out-of-state and have a valid driver’s license. This position works across the State of Ohio’s 88 counties to provide professional and career development to Extension faculty and staff members. The position is based in the Learning and Organizational Development (LOD) office on the Columbus campus; however, hybrid flexible work agreements are available based on the following: On average, the person in this position will be expected to be on the Columbus campus 80 working days each year with another potential 80 working days throughout the State in Extension offices or other sites suitable for training workshops. The frequency, pattern, and choice of days for hybrid work schedules may vary based on the policies of the organization and the roles and responsibilities of different employees. The ideal mix of hybrid and in-office work will be determined by the Director of LOD and the employee.
The salary scale for this position is $79,000-$105,500. Salaries are not negotiable by the unit manager once a determination has been made by the University based on the selected candidate’s skills and experience.
