Scope of Position
The James is committed to improving access and providing exemplary service to our patients and visitors. The JPAS Manager functions as an integral member of the health care team and promotes a working culture of cooperation, engagement, and mutual respect. The Manager operationalizes the strategic plan of The James to improve access and services to our customers (consumers and physicians) through efficient and optimal scheduling practices which also supports our financial goals. May be responsible for supporting multiple JPAS areas (intake center, clinic, diagnostic and procedural areas, perioperative services, and registration). The JPAS manager must demonstrate the ability and skillset to work with multiple different computer systems with different rules and operational methods. Must be able to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and hospital policies and guidelines.
Position Summary
The JPAS Perioperative Manager is responsible for managing, guiding, coaching, and evaluating the work performance of JPAS staff within the surgical scheduling and OR template optimization realm. Ongoing collaboration with customers who relate directly or indirectly to the department is essential. The Manager assumes primary responsibility for the direct management of staff. The Manager is responsible for monitoring and ensuring the accuracy of scheduling and efficacy of processes through a robust surgery scheduling training program, collecting, and coordinating QA data, process analysis and monitoring, developing reporting mechanisms and measuring customer satisfaction. The Manager has an integral role in managing projects related to the product line. The Manager will resolve identified issues and continually move towards improved outcomes. The Manager assists with the development of budgets, implementation of new programs and locations, assures the development of outcome measurements and assures compliance with JCAHO standards and other regulatory agencies. Serves in place of the Assistant Director when unavailable for customers, other departments, and staff.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business administration or healthcare field or equivalent work experience preferred (minimum of seven years’ experience with surgical scheduling and perioperative operations). Health care experience preferred. Demonstrates successful leadership, supervisory and management skills. Computer experience required. Knowledge of applications and systems and demonstrates proficiency. Strong demonstrated verbal, written and presentation skills. Sense of professionalism and ability to win confidence of those at various levels of the organization.
