Scope of Position
The Chemical Dependency Counselor is a direct patient care position addressing all aspects of Substance Dependence Treatment. The majority of work tasks are complex, independent judgment and skills are required. Supervision is required for some decisions in the day-to-day decision making related to patient care.
Position Summary
The Chemical Dependency Counselor is responsible for facilitation of the patient’s care in all levels of care. The position is responsible for implementation of the treatment plan. The position requires special knowledge, skills, and competencies relating to chemical dependency education, treatment, and rehabilitation.
Minimum Qualifications
For Hire: 1. Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field – AND – 3 yrs (FTE adjusted) experience in relevant field
OR – Master’s Degree in relevant field – AND –1 yr (FTE adjusted) experience in relevant field
2. Minimum Credentialing as a Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant (CDCA), Social Work Trainee (SWT), Counselor Trainee (CT), or equivalent.
On going: 1. Maintains continuing education requirements for credentials/license.
Maintains professional credentials Complies with all policies as outlined by Talbot Hall and The Ohio State University Hospital East.
