Position Overview
The College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences (CFAES) engagement team is a subset of the larger CFAES Advancement Team charged with building and deepening the engagement of alumni of the college. The team’s efforts are focused on strengthening the relationship of alumni to both the college and the university thereby increasing engagement and awareness and building a pipeline of philanthropy.
Under the direction of the Manager of Alumni Engagement the Engagement and Alumni Relations Senior Associate assists in developing, implementing, monitoring, and enhancing strategies (activities events programs services and infrastructure) for CFAES that promote alumni engagement and build upon current college and university initiatives.
The Engagement and Alumni Relations Senior Associate must have excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills with the ability to balance a wide variety of tasks and shifting priorities within a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be able to recognize opportunities to share compelling content with a variety of audiences be comfortable with technology and have competencies in video conferencing and presentation platforms as well as Excel and customer relationship databases.
This role requires the ability to work a flexible schedule to include pre-planned evenings weekends and occasional travel. It also offers a flexible schedule including both in office and remote work as agreed upon with the Manager.

About the College of Food Agricultural and Environmental Sciences

One of the ways we accomplish this mission is through engaging alumni of our programs across our three campuses: Columbus Wooster and statewide through OSU Extension.
Duties and Responsibilities
55% Alumni Engagement
Volunteer Management – Under the direction of the CFAES Manager of Alumni Engagement manages and provides oversight of the nomination and selection process for CFAES Alumni Awards and geographic areas of alumni engagement.
Works closely with Manager of Alumni Engagement on program goals and outcomes for Homecoming celebrations, Alumni Awards, Farm Science Review, Alumni Society meetings, and events and other initiatives throughout the year. Explores and implements opportunities for alumni engagement in partnership with CFAES Academic Programs and unit partners.
Enhances synergies between CFAES and the Ohio State Alumni Association to leverage collaborative opportunities in programing, participation, and increased event attendance.
30% Student and Alumni Early Engagement
In close collaboration with Manager of Alumni Engagement develops and manages strategies for engaging students during their time on campus in CFAES. Collaborates with Office of Academic Programs departments and student clubs to connect alumni with students. Interacts with graduating students and recent graduates and explores and implements opportunities for engagement with these populations.
10% Alumni Communications
Writes, collects, and compiles content from a variety of sources for CFAES Alumni newsletter. Coordinates alumni communications with colleagues who maintain CFAES University and Alumni Association communications calendar. Oversees targeted alumni outreach via email (standalone and recurring) mail and social media to engage alumni communicate engagement opportunities and share stories that build pride among CFAES alumni.
5% Miscellaneous
Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education/experience
Two (2) years of experience in event planning, project management alumni engagement or related work
Strong customer service orientation and ability to work with diverse populations
Experience using customer relationship management database
Proficient with Microsoft Office suite
Proficient in virtual and in person engagement tools

Experience with alumni engagement for a large higher education college or unit
Knowledge of higher education advancement
Knowledge of and experience in The Advancement System (TAS)
