Position Overview
Reporting directly to the Office of the Vice Provost for Strategic Enrollment Management and Under general direction of the Assistant Vice Provost for Policies, Connections, and Technology, this position supports the university’s strategic enrollment goals through facilitating the maintenance and strategic expansion of relationships with community colleges, community-based organizations, philanthropies, funding agencies, school districts, and other groups to advance the university’s enrollment goals.
This position provides opportunities for student access, success, and completion by leading SEM’s involvement in grant-writing opportunities, exploring external funding, and serving as a liaison with institutional offices community engagement work. This position also plans events designed to support enrollment objectives on behalf of the SEM Vice Provost. This position plays a critical role to SEM’s access and affordability strategy as leading SEM’s internal partnership and communication among pipeline programs, effective collection and sharing of data on outcomes and impact, and a deepened presence in the communities, and schools that serve future and current students. The role will focus on building pipelines and enrollment initiatives for the Columbus as well as Ohio State Lima, Mansfield, Marion, and Newark. This position will regularly interact with campus deans, administrative offices, marketing and communications, as well as other campus units in furthering SEM strategy.
This position will play a tangible role in triangulating and connecting initiatives designed to increase access and affordability, most importantly, success in this position will mean making a very real difference in outcomes for students in their trajectory toward higher education. This role will strategically connect the Office of the SEM VP to community groups and schools, obtain external funding, and host events all to support the institutions efforts of enrolling and graduating the most academically talented students. The role will support all OSU campuses, student levels, and modalities.
Duties Include
Connects SEM VP and strategy to external community groups who further the enrollment management initiatives.
Identify partnerships, support, and cultivate partnerships designed to support strategic enrollment management goals.
Coordinate enrollment engagement and events with Alumni Association.
Establish, advise and coordinate the following advisory councils designed to enhance Ohio State’s reach: high principals advisory council, current student advisory council, and community student services college leaders.
Serve as the liaison between all external groups and partnerships in Strategic Enrollment Management.
Handle all logistics for SEM VP engagement with school boards, community groups, alumni groups, and other external constituents designed to increase enrollment.
Builds relationships, writes for grants, and assist in identifying external funding designed to enhance SEM access, success, and completion goals.
On behalf of the Office of the SEM Vice Provost, organize and oversee community and on-campus engagements events, including planning, logistics, and execution.
Develop and nurture relationships with local community organizations, school boards, and other stakeholders to enhance SEM engagement efforts.
Represent the SEM Vice Provost at external community events, promoting a positive and collaborative image.
Collaborate with the Office of University Marketing, Government Affairs, External Engagement, Regional Campuses Deans, and Alumni Relations to coordinate and ensure alignment of the SEM Vice Provost strategy as it relates external engagement.
Serve as a connector for the SEM Vice Provost and community groups, philanthropies, and other groups in support of the university access, success, and completion strategies.
Evaluate the impact of community engagement events and provide recommendations for improvement.
Plan, host, and coordinate events on behalf of the Vice Provost for Strategic Enrollment Management’s Office.
Maintain and regularly report on data demonstrating impact of work.
Collaborate with deans of regional campuses to raise awareness of Ohio State in local communities on behalf of SEM Vice Provost.
Engage state constituents, OSU community, and others in support of college going messages as outlined in regional campuses enrollment turnaround plan.
Regularly travel throughout the region, state, and nationally to build appropriate connections and pipelines into the university.
50% External Engagement and Community Connections, 25% Grant Writing/External Funding/SEM Partnerships, 25% Campus Stakeholder Engagement and Advising (advising student groups, etc.)
Qualifications
Required:
The successful candidate will have a bachelor’s degree, demonstrated, progressively responsible leadership or management roles in business, government, higher education, or relevant fields (4 years of relevant experience required), as well as the demonstrated ability to lead, develop and apply best practices to a large comprehensive program or organization. The successful candidate will possess proactive communication skills, civic engagement, and have demonstrated experiences working with community groups, businesses, or nonprofits. The successful candidate will also possess a strong understanding of the value of partnerships, ability to identify trends and current and emerging needs of constituents and will recognize the value of the student academic experience related to admission, retention, and graduation. Additionally, the successful candidate will possess the ability to challenge the status quo; the desire to continually improve an already high-functioning organization; a strong vision that promotes innovation, strategic thinking and high levels of collaboration.
Desired:
Master’s degree, 4-8 years of relevant experience preferred.
Additional Information:
The pay range for this job profile is $62,700 min – $83,600 mid – $ 97,000 max. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, unit’s available budget, and the candidate’s qualifications.
