The Home Depot Hiring for Non- CDL Delivery Driver Job at Elk Grove Village, IL Full Time

Non-CDL driver associates are responsible for driving box trucks under 26,000 lbs. gross weight or smaller for the purpose of completing customer deliveries to their homes or businesses. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: loading, unloading, lifting, and transporting merchandise in order to serve our customers. Associates will be required to interact with customers, warehouse leaders and associates, and store leaders and associates. Associates will also be expected to systemically update orders via a handheld device.

Key Responsibilities:

• 80% Driving and delivering product to our customers – TASKS (associated w/ responsibility above):
• Drive a non-CDL vehicle (box trucks under 26,000 lbs. gross weight or smaller) on local routes; Communicate delivery updates to customers and stores; Load the truck in an efficient manner for unload and confirm customer orders; Climb in and out of delivery cab to accommodate customer deliveries throughout the day; Perform overtime as required to accomplish deliveries and maintain customer satisfaction
• 20% Systemically updating the status of orders – Ensure all systemic updates to orders are accurately and timely entered into handheld device

Direct Manager/Direct Reports:

• This Position typically reports to Home Depot DC Transportation Manager, Transportation Supervisor, MDO Manager, or Warehouse Manager

Travel Requirements:

• Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time.

Physical Requirements:

• Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Working Conditions:

• Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
• Valid, active Class C Driver’s License
• Clean Motor Vehicle Record
• Ability to load and unload heavy items up to 70 lbs.
• Must pass DOT physical, criminal check and drug screen
• Provide Customer Satisfaction Postcard to customer after completion of delivery and thank them for being a Home Depot customer
• Must be familiar with local and surrounding areas
• Ability to read a GPS and follow directions

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1 year of previous delivery driver experience preferred

• The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a high school diploma and/or GED.
