Description
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Ensuring policies and procedures pertaining to students with
disabilities are implemented appropriately.
2. Maintain current knowledge of state and federal disability-related rules and
regulations.
3. Evaluate physical and psychiatric/psychological documentation including IEPs and 504 plans to determine eligibility,
identifies appropriate accommodations, and works with faculty and staff to provide classroom, housing and/or campus
accommodations.
4. Coordinate intake process for students with physical, psychiatric, learning, hearing, visual, and temporary
disabilities to determine eligibility for accommodations.
5. Evaluate and procure assistive technology needed to meet individual
needs.
6. Collaborate with various offices including Residence Life, Student Success Center, Counseling Center, Facilities, Wellness
Center, and Admissions/Records to evaluate and determine appropriate accommodations for students with disabilities.
7. Other duties
as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications/Experience
Bachelor’s degree required with a Master’s degree preferred in
Higher Education, counseling psychology, vocational rehabilitation counseling or a related field. Minimum of 2 years of work experience,
particularly in the area of disability services or academic counseling, or an equivalent combination of education and
experience.
Experience working with students with disabilities and/or willing to become an “expert” on students with
disabilities.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Kurweil, Qualtrics and the ability to utilize computerized filing
system.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, writing, and presentation skills. Committed to helping students achieve success with
a high level of confidentiality, professionalism and integrity.
