A variety of important factors are reviewed by HR when considering salary, including job duties, the applicant’s education and experience, all relevant internal equity considerations, department budget, and funding source.
Under the direction of management, the incumbent for this position is responsible for planning, bidding, and management of construction projects, telecommunications infrastructure, data centers, and MDF locations. Responsibilities include providing technical expertise, with CRAC Units, chill water supply & return, single and 3-phase electrical, UPS backup systems, along with 24hr monitoring as related to critical conditioned spaces. Knowledge and experience in the design, planning, and execution of projects within the University, and consulting with others as needed to coordinate efforts, is a core aspect of this position. Incumbent will be required to prepare bid specifications and/or drawings for projects as well as attend bid meetings with vendors and the purchasing department.
Provides guidance to design entities on construction projects to maintain standards and quality for telecommunications wiring and infrastructure installations.
Manages outside vendors and contracts for maintenance, and internal projects, as well as major construction projects by others, including the installation and repair of telecommunication systems across multiple campuses and satellite sites. May apply for, and secure, city or state construction permits as required. Maintains records of these activities including processing and tracking of estimates, costs, and invoices.
Keeps department’s records and drawings up to date for all additions and changes to the telecommunications infrastructure, manholes, conduits, fiber, and copper for both inside and outside plants.
May have experience in Facilities Operations & Maintenance and/or a background in electrical/mechanical systems and controls along with maintaining maintenance schedules.
Adheres, and may ensure the adherence of others, to procedures and standards pertinent to areas of responsibility. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or directly related field and at least three years of experience in construction and data center project management. Demonstrated experience in telecommunications construction. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Required Skills & Abilities:
* Must be able to use Microsoft Office Suite of programs.
* Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills along with the ability to effectively interact with a diverse group of individuals.
* Excellent organizational skills.
* Ability to work in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment.
* Demonstrated understanding of construction budgets.
* Proficiency in reading blueprints.
* Must have solid understanding of the practices and codes governing construction work for Telecommunications and other trades.
* Ability to work nights and/or weekends, as needed.
* Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
* Must have valid driver’s license.
Preferred:
* Demonstrated experience managing vendors and contracts.
* Ability to edit and create AutoCAD single line drawings.
* Understanding of PA One Call procedures.
