This work will include but is not limited to developing and updating university plans, policies, and procedures for emergency preparedness and response; managing and testing emergency communication systems and developing emergency messaging in coordination with various operating departments and university communications professionals; implementing a business continuity program to prepare, exercise, and improve departmental recoverability; and providing oversight and support to the Deputy Director of Emergency Management responsible for implementing TUready trainings, outreach, and preparedness initiatives across all Temple University domestic campuses. The Director will also collaborate with university stakeholders and develop local, state, national, and international partnerships to implement evidence-based emergency management initiatives and programs at Temple University that foster a culture of preparedness. The Director is responsible for large-scale incident management and response coordination and will provide guidance and information to senior administrators leading up to and throughout the duration of an event affecting the university community. Required Skills and Abilities:*Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.*Skilled in critical thinking and problem-solving.*Experience in program development and evaluation.*Ability to represent the Office of Emergency Management and the Department of Public Safety at meetings, conferences, and other public functions. *Ability to handle sensitive matters in a confidential and professional manner.Preferred:*Master’s degree in emergency management or a related field is preferred. *Certified Emergency Management (CEM) credential is preferred but not required.This position requires a background check.Temple University is committed to a policy of equal opportunity for all in every aspect of its operations, including employment, service, and educational programs.
