Summary:
The Associate Director is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day administrative operations of the Statistics, Operations, and Data Science (SODS) department. The role provides support for the various initiatives and programs that the Department undertakes including: supervision of student workers, providing administrative oversight of affiliated student professional organizations; recommends office policies and procedures as wells as participates in strategy formulation and implementation; assists and works closely with the Chairperson, Deputy Department Chair, Program Academic Directors. The Associate Director assists full-time faculty with outreach programs to external stakeholders including executive outreach programs, alumni and professional organizations, department events, and conferences; oversees recruiting efforts in conjunction with CSPD to improve placement outcomes; assists in the maintenance and content management of the department website working closely with the Fox Webmaster; coordinates events for the department including seminars, student related conferences and panels, and other student/faculty related occasions; provides oversight of the scheduling process in consultation with the department chair, deputy chair and program directors; and provides budgetary oversight of all departmental funds.
The primary focus of the position is on overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Data Science.
The Associate Director will produce budgets for The Programs, and will oversee, reconcile, and review those budgets, providing financial reconciliations as appropriate; will provide oversight of budgetary activities and transactions, and will provide management for cost centers. The Associate Director will also work with external constituencies, including corporate and governmental partners to support the creation and maintenance of Advisory Boards and assist with funding and research data proposals.
The Associate Director will work with internal and external constituencies including Fox Alumni Relations and corporate partners to organize academic and industry workshops, executive education sessions, seminars, and talks, provide support to the department’s executive education programs and industry certifications, and will oversee contract and sponsorship handling.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree with at least four (4) years of experience that includes demonstrated successful interaction with the business community, preferably in an academic setting; substantial and progressively responsible event planning and management; fiscal planning and budget management. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

*Ability to interact with executive level corporate partners.

*Strong event/conference planning and management skills
*Demonstrated strong project management and scheduling skills.
*Demonstrated advanced skills with the Microsoft Office suite, including word processing, spreadsheets, database, and presentation software.
*Ability to interact effectively with a diverse group of students, faculty, staff and external constituents.
*Due to the international nature of some of the programs, corporations, students, and advisory board members, must have strong skills working interculturally with international students, companies, and cultures.
*Ability to work nights and/or weekends, if necessary.
*Knowledge of planning, production and management of large, small, high profile, and less-formal events for diverse and distinguished guests.
*Demonstrated ability to formulate creative ideas, and to analyze, evaluate, and negotiate details reflective of a successful event.
*Demonstrated project management skills, time management, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage details of multiple and complex projects within firm schedules.
*Fiscal and budget management knowledge and ability to manage and monitor department and event budgets, anticipating costs of production, technical, and promotional needs.
*Excellent communication skills sufficient to express ideas and agreements concisely and persuasively, both orally and in writing, to a variety of constituencies.
*Ability to address complex issues utilizing a clear, thoughtful manner, and to come to resolution quickly without jeopardizing the event or relationships with people involved.
*Demonstrated proficiently in Microsoft Office Suite and web management software, preferably Word Press.
*Demonstrated ability to multi-task, including the ability to manage multiple projects and events simultaneously and efficiently, meet deadlines and achieve executional excellence.
*Strong interpersonal skills along with the ability to effectively interact with executives, all levels of management, staff, faculty, students and alumni.
*Demonstrated ability to manage various types of events, including student workshops and conferences and events for over 200 people, coordinating hospitality, promotion, logistics, follow-up, etc.
*Attendance is infrequently required for evening and weekend events.
Preferred:
*Supervisory experience.
This position is assigned a hybrid work arrangement (on-campus and remote), the duration of this hybrid work arrangement is at the discretion of Temple University and the Department.
