Description
1-YEAR TERMED POSITION
Syracuse University Libraries’ strategic plan prioritizes
developing its Digital Library to enhance both discovery, curricular use, and long-term persistent access to the diverse and unique digital
materials in its digital collections systems. The Department of Digital Stewardship (DDS) works with Libraries¿ stakeholders to create and
manage digital collections and objects in its repositories and preserves content for long-term access in its digital preservation system,
Preservica.
Under direction of the Head of Digital Stewardship and the Digital Library, the Digital Media Librarian is primarily
responsible for managing digitized and born-digital audiovisual content on the Libraries¿ media asset management platform (Kaltura),
including delivery of digital objects fulfilling patron requests and working with stakeholders to create access to audiovisual holdings. The
incumbent assumes primary responsibility for in-house, visual media transfers and maintains necessary equipment. S/he provides quality
control and editing for outsourced digitization of audiovisual materials. The Digital Media Librarian works closely with the Digital
Preservation Librarian to ingest and stage digitized audiovisual objects and selected born-digital resources for long-term, persistent
access in Preservica.
