Description
The Assistant/Associate/Full Professor will serve as the Principal Investigator and Director of a laboratory that will focus on basic and/or translational biomedical cancer research in the fields of cancer metabolomics and/or cancer biology. There will be a substantial commitment to writing of manuscripts and grant applications. In addition, selected incumbent will be responsible for training graduate students, residents and postdoctoral fellows in research methodology. The selected candidate will be expected to collaboratively work toward building research excellence. This includes fostering growth and enhancing the external peer-reviewed cancer research in the Department of Pathology.
Applicants themselves must be an accomplished scientist in cancer research and have a demonstrated track record in extramurally funded research as well as a record of mentorship. The successful candidate should hold a PhD, MD, MD/PhD or equivalent.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
PhD, MD (or foreign equivalent). Minimum of four (4) years of postdoctoral research in academic environment in Biomedical Sciences. Experience in the fields of cancer metabolomics and/or cancer biology. Capability of functioning as a student mentor with strong organizational and administrative skills. Excellent communication skills as demonstrated by lead authorship of published research communications. Experience with grant applications. Record of grant support at the national level.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstration of academic capability, such as a prior research experience and productivity, and current productivity. Prior history for obtaining R01-level federal support for cancer research. Teaching, mentorship across cancer research training continuum and demonstrated leadership abilities. NIH funded research.
