Required Qualifications: (as evidenced by an attached resume)
Bachelor’s Degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Two [2] years of full-time administrative experience, preferably in a student services setting and within a higher education/academic environment (e.g. advising, Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar, Counseling). Highly proficient in spreadsheet management and computer software more generally (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Apps, etc…)
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s Degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Additional years of full-time administrative experience, preferably in a student services setting and within a higher education/academic environment (e.g. advising, Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar, Counseling). Academic advising experience. Experience working within a Graduate and/or Undergraduate Program. Experience working with visa/immigration paperwork. Experience with budgets, account reconciliation and/or procurement. Experience managing and editing webpages.
Brief Description of Duties:
The Department of Economics seeks to improve the quality and visibility of its graduate program. Working closely with the Graduate Program Director and the Department Chair, the incumbent will help coordinate and lead this effort with an emphasis on recruiting, fundraising, and community outreach in addition to the traditional duties. This position is responsible for maintaining and improving the overall academic quality, integrity, and viability of the Graduate Degree Program. The incumbent is responsible for providing continuous comprehensive assistance to graduate students from matriculation to graduation on courses as per program guidelines as well as for helping to recruit talented students to our program and maintain ties with program alumni. The successful incumbent will have excellent interpersonal skills, exercising strong organizational skills with an exceptional attention to detail. Essential for this role is the ability to work independently as well as part of a team with a collaborative approach to problem solving. The Program Director and Department Chair also note that the successful incumbent should be comfortable interacting with individuals at various levels within the institution as well as with the public whenever necessary. The Graduate Coordinator will help build our recruiting efforts and outreach to
students in the US and around the globe as well as to build and maintain a database of former students. The incumbent must possess strong oral and written communication skills and a willingness to innovate and think creatively about building a student-centered program.
Special Notes:
This is a full-time appointment. FLSA Non Exempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.
In addition to the employee’s base salary, this position is eligible for $3,087 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.
