Hourly rates within the Classified Bargaining Unit Pay Plan will change effective July 2, 2023. At that time, the starting rate (Step 1) for this job opening will be $26.95 per hour.
The Department of Labor is seeking a motivated individual to provide technical, supervisory, and administrative support for the Vermont Department of Labor’s Unemployment Insurance Division (UI).
This role involves supervising day-to-day operations, oversight of claims intake and/or employer tax liability and wage reporting, special programs, creating and updating unit procedures, along with participating in the development, refinement, and implementation of automated systems.

Duties are performed in standard office setting. Good human relations skills are needed to deal with upset or irate employers and claimants. Occasional travel may be required for which private means of transportation must be available.
Bachelor’s degree AND EITHER one (1) year or more in unemployment compensation, employment services, labor/industrial relations, or legal work that includes one year or more of supervisory experience OR one (1) year or more in the field of human resources with a concentration in benefits or labor relations, investigations, or federal/state unemployment compensation laws and regulations that includes one year or more of supervisory experience.
OR
Associate’s degree AND EITHER three (3) years or more in unemployment compensation, employment services, labor/industrial relations, or legal work that includes one year or more of supervisory experience OR three (3) years or more in the field of human resources with a concentration in benefits or labor relations, investigations, or federal/state unemployment compensation laws and regulations that includes one year or more of supervisory experience.
OR
High School diploma or equivalent AND EITHER five (5) years or more in unemployment compensation, employment services, labor/industrial relations, or legal work that includes one year or more of supervisory experience OR five (5) years or more in the field of human resources with a concentration in benefits or labor relations, investigations, or federal/state unemployment compensation laws and regulations that includes one year or more of supervisory experience.
