Who we are and what we do:

The Mission of the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is to preserve, conserve, manage, protect, and enhance the fish and wildlife of the state and their habitats for the use, benefit, and enjoyment of the citizens of Tennessee and its visitors. The Agency will foster the safe use of the state’s waters through a program of law enforcement, education, and access.

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency has come a long way since it was established in 1949 and was called the Game and Fish Commission. Completely reorganized in 1974, it now consists of more than 700 professionals dedicated to the preservation, conservation, and enhancement of Tennessee’s fish and wildlife for the enjoyment of all Tennesseans and our visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Develop and execute an annual, risk-based, internal audit plan to include all programs within the Agency. Include scope of all evaluations, potential resource limitations, business risks, and systems for controls.
• Conduct audit engagements of programs within the Agency. Determine if programs adhere to State and Federal standards. Outline any potential findings including remediation recommendations. Follow up with program leaders to provide guidance for future conformance with regulations.
• Evaluates risks, issues, and trends that could impact the Agency’s programs and funding sources.
• Establish a quality assurance and improvement program to cover all aspects of the internal audit process. Provide a comparison of audit processes and findings.
• Create audit policies and procedures to guide audit processes and assist staff in maintaining necessary State and Federal compliance.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Public Administration.

Preferred qualifications are a CIA, CPA, CISA, or CFE certification.
