This position is represented by SEIU Local 2007 and the collective bargaining agreement between the university and SEIU Local 2007 governs the terms and conditions of employment.
*This is a 2-year Fixed Term position.
Responsibilities:
Technicians at this level independently perform the duties described in the lower level; in addition, they independently develop installation instructions and procedures. These higher-level assignments normally require study and analysis of procedures, layouts, precedents and several possible course of action.Assignments may include quality control and provision of direction or technical assistance to other workers.
In assigning work to the Principal Telecommunications Technicians, the supervisor outlines system requirements, and provides general instructions as to scope objectives time limitations, and priorities.The technician will collaborate with the supervisor for consultation and advice where significant deviations from standard principles and practices must be made.
Characteristic Duties:
In addition to the duties performed by the Telecommunications Technician I, employees assigned to the Telecommunications Technician II classification:
Voice
Using MAP run diagnostics on specific telephone lines
Data
Test and repair data connections reported as defective; replace defective switching components as necessary.
CATV
Test and repair CATV connections reported as defective. Replace defect interdiction, set-top and amplifier components as necessary.
Card System
Install and test all new card reader and cash register locations.
Special Circuits
Assist client in connecting their equipment
Minimum Education and Experience Required:
High School diploma or GED and previous work experience in voice, data service, cable television, card system and/or special circuit system areas or combination of education and relevant experience.

The expected pay range for this position is $48.04 (Step 11) to $58.11 (Step 20) per hour. Placement in the pay range is subject to the applicable collective bargaining agreement. Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position.
Certificates and Licenses Required
Must possess and maintain a valid California Non-commercial Class driver’s license.

Cisco VoIP
Physical Requirements
Frequently stand/walk, seated, performs desk-based computer tasks.
Working Conditions
Exposure to excessive heat, cold, dust, asbestos and hospital conditions.
Work Standards
When conducting university business, must comply with the California Vehicle Code and Stanford University driving requirements.
