General Manager, Red Barn
ABOUT STANFORD RED BARN
The Stanford Red Barn Student Equestrian Center is part of Stanford’s Department of Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation (“DAPER”) which is the premier intercollegiate athletics and recreation program in the country. The Red Barn is the oldest building on campus, part of Leland Stanford’s Palo Alto Stock Farm that became home to Leland Stanford Junior University in 1891.
Today the Red Barn is a state-of-the-art training and education center for equestrians with nearly 100 horses in our care. The barn is the home of Stanford’s top-ranked collegiate Equestrian Team, the thriving Stanford Riding Academy, as well as serving as a boarding facility with premier resident trainers. The Red Barn operates under the oversight of DAPER in concert with the Red Barn Advisory Board, a distinguished group including faculty, alumni, and industry professionals.
The Red Barn maintains the model of equine excellence and historical roots entrenched in the University’s “Farm” heritage through outreach, community events, and equine education programs. Our priority is serving Stanford students, the Stanford community (faculty, staff, and alumni), and members of our local community.
The General Manager, Red Barn is responsible for the oversight of the Red Barn Student Equestrian Center, reporting to the Executive Director. The General Manager, Red Barn will supervise the staff of grooms, facility service providers, and run the day-to-day operations of the facility, including payment and record keeping of boarders, and supervise the staff of grooms. Some weekends and evenings will be required.

The expected pay range for this position is $75,000 to $85,000 per annum. Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
