This is a 3-year fixed term position.
Stanford Libraries is looking for a full time, E-Resources Licensing Support Librarian to join our Acquisitions & Collections Services team. The Acquisitions & Collection Services Department manages the procurement of materials for the world-renowned collections of Stanford Libraries. Our department comprises several units, each responsible for a specific function of the acquisitions process. Each Unit is staffed with highly skilled Library Specialists with expertise in various categories and formats of the library’s collections.
About the Position:
The E-Resources Licensing Support Librarian supports electronic resources acquisitions processes by coordinating various units and workflows involved in executing license agreements between content providers, publishers, and other related service providers for materials such asjournal packages, databases, eBooks, datasets, and streaming media. Taking an active role in procurement, license document review, renewal communication and maintenance of acquisitions records, the position plays a vital role in Stanford Libraries’ ability to provide electronic resources for use by students, faculty and staff at Stanford University.
As a member of the Acquisitions & Collections Services Department and the Licensing Unit, the incumbent works in a team-based environment to communicate and build relationships with vendors and publishers, evaluate offers, and provide documentation and status updates in systems such as JIRA, FOLIO, Confluence. Reporting to the Digital Collections Licensing Librarian, the incumbent will also work closely with the Continuing Resources Librarian and staff in the Electronic Resources Unit as well as with and colleagues across the library and campus to answer questions related to acceptable use of electronic resource, order status updates, and other related manners.

Position is eligible for hybrid remote work; a minimum of two days a week are required on-site.
Core Librarian Duties*:
●Assist staff with reference and research inquiries by searching shelves, files and electronic resources.
●Evaluate the effectiveness of resource tools.
●Develop approaches for complex searches for library research.
●Assist in analyzing the technical and access needs for a unit of the library system.
●Develop bibliographic and reference lists as assigned.
●Provide information on library activities, rules and services to patrons and staff.
●Teach classes, lead tours and/or give demonstrations of library resources.
●May manage a unit within a library.
Core Job Responsibilities:
●Support administrative aspects of licensing workflow including reviewing and updating incoming JIRA tickets, requesting information from publishers, providing license descriptions in FOLIO.
●Communicate and collaborate across library departments and bibliographer groups to support ongoing relationships with vendors, publishers, consortia, and work with library staff to manage e-resource orders and meet community needs.
○Request and evaluate offer proposals from publishers and vendors; provide recommendations to library leadership.
○Coordinate meetings with vendors and library staff.
●Participate in ongoing systems and workflow evaluation related to licensing e-resources.
●Create and update training and procedural documentation.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience:
Advanced Degree in Library Science or a relevant academic discipline with demonstrated understanding of academic libraries or a combination of education and relevant experience.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
●Knowledge of relevant aspects of library operations including understanding of contemporary library practices, trends and emerging technologies.
●Evidence of strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with a wide variety of people.
●Effective problem solving, analytical and organizational skills.
●Demonstrated broad knowledge of library discovery environments, office automation software, and online resources.
●Ability to quickly learn and use print and online tools and resources and in areas of specialization.
●Evidence of strong verbal and written communication skills.
Other Preferred or Relevant Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities May Include:
●Experience reviewing library resource license agreements
●Document and versioning management
●Proven success communicating with stakeholders and team members, patrons, and content providers
●Ability to balance multiple projects and set priorities in a time-sensitive environment.
●Curiosity and interest in learning licensing processes and related Acquisitions applications
Physical Requirements:
●Constantly sit, perform desk-based computer tasks.
●Frequently twist/bend/stoop/squat, grasps lightly/fine manipulation, grasp forcefully, sort/file paperwork or parts, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
●Occasionally stand/walk, reach/work above shoulders, writing by hand, kneel/crawl, climb (ladders, scaffolds, or other).
●Rarely use a telephone, operate hand controls.

Working Conditions:
May work in confined spaces and at heights 4-10 feet; be exposed to dust and mold; work extended hours, evenings and weekends.
Standard Hours for this position: 40-hour workweek, M-F; start and end times to be agreed upon with supervisor.

The expected pay range for this position is $73,000 to $92,000 per annum.Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location, and external market pay for comparable jobs.
