Residential & Dining Enterprises (R&DE), the largest auxiliary organization at Stanford University, supports the academic mission of the University by providing high-quality services to students and other members of the university community. The department has an annual operating budget of over $350M, operates 24/7/365, and oversees a $3B asset portfolio comprising a 7 million sq. ft. physical plant across the campus. In autumn quarter of the 2021-22 academic year, R&DE will return to providing housing for over 13,000 students and dependents, serving meals at 17 dining halls, 12 retail locations, and operating athletic concessions and conference operations. Additionally, R&DE comprises 900 FTE staff in the following divisions: Student Housing Operations, Stanford Dining, Stanford Hospitality & Auxiliaries, Stanford Conferences, Maintenance Operations and Capital Projects, and a team of R&DE strategic business partners: Finance & Administration, Information Technology, Human Resources, and Strategic Communications.

This role is currently designated as hybrid and may provide incumbents with flexibility for partial telecommuting.
JOB PURPOSE:
The main function of the Assistant Director of Graduate Housing Assignments is to co-lead the process by which students are assigned to buildings in graduate housing in partnership with the Senior Assistant Director of Graduate Housing Assignments. Incumbent is responsible for the co-execution of the annual Graduate Housing Lottery as well as quarterly assignment rounds and must understand and follow a complex set of policies and procedures to ensure accuracy and fairness within the system. Incumbent is also responsible for working in tandem with the Senior Assistant Director to ensure that space is being allocated between various categories of housing in such a way that housing occupancy is maximized.
Incumbent is also responsible for drafting graduate housing assignment communications, including reminders to apply and assignment emails, working with R&DE Strategic Communications to update and enhance R&DE Student Housing Assignments’ web presence, and to identify other areas in which R&DE Student Housing Assignments can effectively communicate with the graduate student population.
Incumbent should have strong analytical, computer, and database skills, exceptional writing skills, and the ability to present complex information to a variety of constituencies.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and five years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated ability to establish priorities, manage shifting priorities, and handle numerous time-sensitive projects with multiple deadlines.
Ability to accomplish goals working through formal and informal channels, with diplomacy and tactfulness.
Strong relevant subject matter knowledge.
Advanced analysis and problem-solving skills.
Advanced computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
Understanding of financial transactions.
Ability to ensure and apply compliance with legal, financial, and university policies and external regulations.
Successfully combine hard (e.g. technical knowledge, critical and analytical thinking, problem solving) and soft skills (e.g. people skills, communication, such as active listening, interpersonal and intrapersonal relationship, team work, emotional intelligence, collaboration/conflict management) to meet position requirements.

The expected pay range for this position is $110k to $115k per annum.
