The Office of Government Affairs (OGA) coordinates and facilitates Stanford University’s interactions with all levels of government, as well as its relationship with neighboring communities.The office promotes the interests of the University’s key constituents through contact with public officials, involvement with educational organizations, tracking of pertinent legislation and direct advocacy on a wide variety of issues from land use policies to funding for the basic sciences to health care. The Office of Government Affairs supports the university’s academic mission of teaching and research by serving as the primary point of contact between the university, hospital and our partners in federal, state and local governments. Dually reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Federal Relations and the Assistant Vice President of State Governmental Affairs, the Assistant Director assists with day-to-day management and coordination of activities and relationships with federal and state legislative and agency officials, Stanford staff, and other higher education institutions.

Primary work location can be either Stanford, CA or Washington, DC. Open to a hybrid work schedule (at least 2 days per week on-site). Occasional event staffing may be required (including evenings and weekends).
This role may have occasional business travel to our Palo Alto, CA or Washington, DC offices and Sacramento, CA.

The expected pay range for this position is $118,000 to $127,000 per annum. Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.
