St. Norbert College (SNC), a nationally-ranked, private, Catholic, liberal arts college is seeking a Shift Supervisor for Phil’s, the Campus Center Food Court. This position is responsible for supporting the operation of Phil’s in the absence of the Manager. This is a working supervisor position that spends the majority of the shift working in the kitchen as well as overseeing the work of students.
This is an academic-year/9 month recurring position (off in the summer). Regular work hours are Monday – Friday, 7:15 am – 3:15 pm, rotating working 11:00 am – 7:00 pm.
Specific responsibilities:
Prepare all food items for the day and night shift. (i.e.. slicing cheese & meat, vegetables, fruit, grab and go items,) Complete weekly cleaning/maintenance duties. – 25%
Rotate duties on a weekly basis – the 4 stations in Phil’s. (Cashier, subs, grill and prep) – 25%
Serve food in a timely manner from a fast food type of menu while providing excellent customer service. – 10%
Ensure the cleanliness of the dining room, food production, food preparation and storage areas. – 10%
Train students to work at all stations (grill, fryer, subs and cash register) – 10%
Direct and oversee the work of students in Phil’s Dining area. – 10%
Stock and rotate food, stock coolers, place convenient store order, sweep, mop, take out garbage and recycling, wash pots, pans and dishes. – 10%
Perform additional duties as assigned and attend College required training. Regular attendance is required. Work in a manner that is aware of personal safety and the safety of others. Observe safety, health and sanitation codes, regulations, or practices required by the College or governmental authority.

Required Minimum Qualifications:
Education –
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience and Credentials –
2 years food service experience with strong short order cooking experience.
1 year supervisory and cash handling experience.
Food Manager Servsafe certification/training (or ability to obtain).
Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse campus environment or commitment to do so as an employee of St. Norbert College.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities –
Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
Ability to interact professionally with coworkers and customers, particularly in conflict situations.
Ability to interact politely and resolve customer service issues.
Ability to multitask, meet specific deadlines, and prioritize tasks and assignments.
Skilled in basic math computations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Knowledge of computer programs (Microsoft Office, Google Apps) and ability to learn upgrades and new programs as needed.
Ability to exercise good judgement and decisions in an expeditious manner.
Skilled at setting a good example for others.
Ability to concentrate and focus in a noisy environment.
Ability to pass a post offer functional capacity test.

Fryers, Grills, Oven, Microwave, Dish Machine, Point of Sale Cash Register, Computer and Calculator.
Working Conditions:
Regular work hours are Monday – Friday, 7:15 am – 3:15 pm, rotating working 11:00 am – 7:00 pm. Saturday and Sunday rotation set by the Manager at Phil’s based on the current staffing levels and can change based on the need of the operation. During academic breaks and school holidays, the hours will vary between 7:00 am – 5:30 pm, Monday – Friday. Commencement weekend and faculty/staff dinner (if needed) are required in addition to the regular weekend rotation. Position is a recurring 9 month position working from August to May.

Generally a position where you are standing and walking most of the shift. Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling no more than 30 lbs occasionally. Will need to walk into freezers (extreme temperatures) for short periods. Will need to move within work area with occasional meetings in other buildings on campus.
