Directly responsible for meeting all staff development requirements mandated by St. Mary’s Residential Training Facility and licensing agencies. Will evaluate training needs and recommend establishment and/or revision of staff development programs. Will be responsible for providing those services aimed at facilitating optimal growth and staff development needs within departments, either directly or indirectly through Department Directors and supervisors.
General Statement of Duties:
1. Analyzes and assesses training needs to develop new training programs or modify and improve existing programs through surveys, interviews with department managers and supervisors, and direct observation.
2. Researches, develops, and oversees the implementation of training programs identified in #1.
3. Following the implementation of training programs (#2), assesses outcomes to determine the effectiveness of the training program, and makes any modifications to the training program to insure its efficacy and validity.
4. Schedules, organizes, and oversees the implementation of new employee orientation for all new hires, including teaching assigned classes and insuring that there are adequate instructors for each course.
5. Schedules, organizes, and oversees the implementation of annual training for all employees.
6. Insures that all employees remain current in state and federal government mandated courses and training, including CPR. Provides a monthly status report on employee training to the Programs Director.
7. Organizes and oversees on-the-job training targeting crisis management, client care, and policies and procedures, during non-orientation weeks or when there is no targeted training program.
8. Develops and organizes training manuals, multimedia visual aids, and other educational materials for use in Staff Development and around campus.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a related field. Curriculum and Instruction, Human Resources, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or a closely related field
· Able to communicate well. Able to explain and present ideas in front of large groups and on a one-on-one basis. Must be able to adjust educational level of communication to the appropriate level
· Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
Experience: Three or more years where the applicant has verifiable experience in identifying and analyzing the training needs of others, implementing training programs, and assessing outcomes.
