Overview:
St. John Fisher University, an independent, liberal arts institution in the Catholic tradition located in Rochester, New York, invites applications for a tenure-track position in cognitive or developmental psychology at the level of assistant professor.
Job Responsibilities:
This position is open to developmental and cognitive psychology candidates who focus on neuroscience in their work. The successful candidate will be expected to teach in-person undergraduate courses in behavioral neuroscience/physiological psychology, drugs and behavior/psychopharmacology, and either developmental or cognitive psychology, depending on the specialty. The position will also contribute to teaching in the University’s general education curriculum. Applicants must have demonstrated expertise in neuroscience and a Ph.D. prior to the start date in cognitive or developmental psychology or a closely related subfield is required.
The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the department’s teaching, research, and service while demonstrating a strong commitment to excellence in teaching. Thus, applicants with evidence of their commitment to undergraduate teaching and research will be given priority. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate teaching effectiveness, involve students in their research, and advise students with regard to academic progress and future careers. Faculty are expected to maintain an active research program, provide mentorship and guidance to undergraduate students, foster an inclusive learning environment, and collaborate within the department and across disciplines. The salary range for this role is set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to internal equity, qualifications, experience, and education. The above hiring range is one component of the University’s competitive Total Rewards package which can be viewed here
