Director, Payroll and Disbursements

St. Edward’s University of Austin, Texas invites applications for the position of Director of Payroll and Disbursements. The Director of Disbursements is responsible for maintaining a thorough knowledge of regulatory requirements, university policies, and accounting guidelines and provides high-quality customer service to both internal and external customer groups. Provides leadership multiple functions and operational processes, along with providing strategic support and analysis.
For consideration, Bachelor’s degree in any financial discipline (accounting, business, etc.) or eight years of work experience in a related field. CPA is desired. Understanding of operating and general ledgers. Experience working in a central office position at an educational institution, hospital, or similar campus environment; Banner experience is a plus. Demonstrated knowledge of disbursement regulations and reporting requirements (W2, 941, 1099, 1042S, Sales and Use tax, etc.). Experience in working collaboratively and effectively with widely diverse constituent groups. Strong organizational skills: ability to work under minimal supervision and make independent decisions. Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills and maintain positive working relationships. Must have a valid Texas driver’s license and be insurable by the university’s insurance carrier. Ability to comply with workplace guidelines and attendance requirements. Must possess an unencumbered driver’s license and have the ability to successfully pass an employment and/or criminal background check.
