Job Summary: The Construction Assistant is responsible for cleaning and preparing construction sites, as well as all construction activities assigned. These include, but are not limited to, load and unloads materials, read plans and specifications, tends machines, uses tools, mixes concrete, and assists the Project Superintendent. This position requires up to 75% overnight travel.

Essential Functions:

Construction

• Assist in the construction of pools, splash pads and other water features
• Load and unload material and stage the jobsite daily
• Follow direction from the Project Superintendent or Construction Manager
• Participate in demolitions
• Mix concrete
• Read blueprints/drawing and have the ability to plan layout of plumbing
• May perform welding if qualified
• Cut, assemble and install piping to manufacturer’s specifications
• Remove hazardous materials
• Operate various tools such as; saws, grinders, mixers, lasers, compactors, drills etc. Be able to use these tools safely
• Maintain a clean job site by picking up tools and equipment when the use of them is complete
• Secures job site each day to eliminate potential hazards
• Obtain and return all tools and parts using the proper methods

· General

• Complete your daily work with a positive and helpful attitude
• May work in the Service or Warehouse Department as needed
• Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas
• Keeps himself/herself groomed and clothed as per job guidelines
• As with all other employees, you will be expected to be a team player
• Follows attendance policy

Skills & Qualifications:

· High school diploma or equivalent

· 1-3 years of related work experience is preferred but not mandatory

· Strong mechanical aptitude

· Willingness and ability to travel overnight 75% of the time

· Valid Driver’s License

· Understand the need for confidentiality and discretion; position may be exposed to sensitive information

· Be willing and able to follow direction

· Excellent phone etiquette, communication and organizational skills

· Punctual and able to work with minimal supervision

Position Type & Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work business hours plus strong likelihood of overtime. Spring, summer and fall months are particularly busy. Many work weeks will exceed 60 hours.

Language Skills

Ability to read, understand, and follow written and oral instructions in English.

Mathematical Skills

Basic math skills are required, along with the ability to use a calculator.

It is necessary in this position to have the ability to set priorities. Must be able to make sound decisions using good judgment.

This position requires the ability work on pools for extended periods of times. They must have the strength and stamina to stand and work at a reasonable speed for the required hours per day. There is the need for constant bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting up to 100 lbs. This position requires the ability to work in small, awkward spaces.

Work Environment

The typical work environment is a pool or construction area and will include exposure to hazardous chemicals. The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: some lifting at a minimum of 75 lbs., carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 60% walking, 30% standing, and 10% sitting.

Some exposure to a warehouse environment is likely.
