Job Description:

The Senior Budget Analyst is responsible for reviewing budget entries for accuracy and compliance with the University guidelines, posting to the University enterprise system, processing position control entries, and ad hoc departmental budget reports. Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Planning & Budget this position monitors and evaluates budget processes and procedures ensuring alignment with the University’s mission, values, goals, and objectives. The Senior Budget Analyst will work closely with colleagues across the institution to understand their budget processes and reporting needs and identify trends and develop narratives from data.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Review and approve entries for salary and position modifications.
2. Maintain position control database reconciling to enterprise system.
3. Review and prepare budget entries for accuracy.
4. Maintain base budget, including making adjusting entries and reconciling to the enterprise system.
5. Prepare account analyses as necessary to support the budget process.
6. Working with department to develop forecasting models for budget and planning purposes within the departments. including financial status reports.
7. Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required.
2. Advanced knowledge of computer applications, particularly spreadsheet software.
3. Ability to analyze, interpret, and present financial data in an accurate and timely manner.
4. Ability to effectively communicate financial and related information orally and in writing.
5. Ability to work in a complex office environment, while helping to maintain an atmosphere of professionalism, cooperation, service, and teamwork.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Master’s degree in related field preferred.
2. Prior experience working in higher education preferred.
3. Prior experience with Banner preferred.
