About Facilities Management

Facilities Management works to provide clean, functioning facilities to encourage the learning environment at the three campuses in Edwardsville, East St. Louis and Alton.

Facilities Management is responsible for:

-Campus maintenance, operations and improvement-University vehicles and transportation services-Refuse disposal and recycling-Design and new construction

Currently, Facilities Management has a position for Steam and Power Plant III Operator.

Under general supervision, operates and monitors mechanical systems including boilers, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment, generators, pumps, condensers, compressors, chillers, life safety systems, and building automation systems; starts up, regulates, and shuts down equipment; ensures that equipment operates safely, economically and within established limits; uses hand and power tools to perform repairs and maintenance ranging from a complete pump overhaul to adjusting pump packing. Observes, controls, and records relevant events and facts concerning operation and maintenance; routinely checks safety devices to detect potential mechanical problems, identifying and correcting any trouble that develops.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:1. High school diploma or equivalent.2. Two (2) years (24 months) of work experience in the maintenance and operation of steam and power plant equipment.3. One (1) year (12 months) of work experience in a position comparable to the Steam and Power Plant II. (Operate and maintain high-pressure boilers and auxiliary equipment needed to provide steam, hot water, and heating. They ensure safe work practices and procedures are being followed at all times.)4. Possession of current/valid licenses and certificates, as required by the employing institution. Preferred Qualifications:

5 years’ experience in facility operations with at least two years in one of the following:

Mechanical maintenance

Commercial HVAC

Building operations

Stationary engineer

Plant operations
