FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
50% Planning, Dispatch and Supervisory Description
* Oversee all aspect of the Operations Department including staff of up to ten individuals
* Ensure efficient and on time overall planning of all moves
* Meet or exceed all operational and financial goals
* Build strong relationships with agents and drivers
* Respond to all inquiries timely
* Handle escalated issues
* Liaise with the Gov’t Department to ensure contract compliance
* Oversee all 3rd party programs (alternate capacity)
* Authorization and allocation of operational invoices
* Ensure van line policies are adhered to
* Cover / Support regions / roles when required
* Other duties as required
35% Project Duties
* Monthly KPIs review and strike plans to address areas of concern
* Actively participate in hauling committee meetings
* Actively pursue areas of opportunity to utilize the conventional fleets
* Actively pursue areas of opportunity to improve current programs and create new ones
* Seek opportunities to handle major weight imbalance across Canada
* Identify capacity gaps and regional challenges
* Constantly review planning and dispatch structure, regions and work balance between staff members
* Complete responsibility for organizing biennial Operations conference
15% Reporting and Communication
* Retrieve and review individual and departmental performance statistics
* Report key metrics to senior management
* Participate to management meetings
QUALIFICATIONS AND PREFERRED SKILLS
* Experience in trucking, dispatch or planning is desirable along with strong administrational skills as well as attention to detail and analytical skills.
* Previous team leadership or supervisory experience a must
* Experience in the Household Goods industry preferred
* Secondary Education or equivalent experience
* Bilingual (French) preferred
* Excellent customer service skills and attention to detail with a pleasant phone manner and interpersonal skills
* Experience with Microsoft Office suite
* Excellent organizational and time management skills
* Efficient and accurate understanding of data and policies in a very high paced demanding environment
* Highly motivated, self-driven team player
* Reliable and punctual
* Willing and available to work additional hours including weekends as required
* Practices clear, concise and correct oral and written skills. This include proper phone and email etiquette.
* Adept at handling multiple customers, tasks and issues in a professional manner showing a consistent sense of urgency.
* Possesses strong detail orientation. Possesses strong initiative and ability to obtain strong process knowledge.
* Proactively reviews workload for appropriate prioritization.
* Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changes.
* Maintains effectiveness in varying environments and with different tasks, responsibilities, and people.
* Ability to create and maintain positive work relationships and is team orientated.
* Must possess good knowledge of Canadian geography as well as a good understanding of time-distance
* Working understanding of the Canadian Hours of Service Regulations is required
