The Shasta-Tehama-Trinity Joint Community College District (Shasta College) sits at the northern end of the Sacramento Valley, surrounded by mountains to the north, east, and west. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Under administrative leadership, it is the responsibility of the Associate Degree Nursing Assistant Instructor to teach assigned clinical courses/hours with oversight from the full-time, Master’s Prepared Associate Degree Nursing faculty serving as instructor(s) or record [Title 16 (§1425(d)3.3.4)], and to perform those tasks that support advancement of the vision, mission, and values of the community college district.
All Temporary Part-time Assistant Instructors are compensated in accordance with the terms of the collective bargaining agreement between Shasta-Tehama-Trinity Joint Community College District and Shasta College Faculty Association/CTA/NEA.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities designated below are primary to the Assistant Instructor role. Some of the listed professional responsibilities are examples of activities, which are part of the unique role of each Assistant Instructor and are reflective of their individual expertise and interests. Faculty who possess the Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) approved Assistant Instructor classification may teach in the classroom but are required to defer to the Master’s Prepared Instructor(s) of Record who have overall responsibility for the design of the assigned course, including the determination of instructional outcomes and students’ ultimate course grade(s).

The state of California has established minimum qualifications for academic positions in California Community Colleges to promote professionalism, instructional integrity, and academic rigor. The primary minimum qualification for academic positions is an advanced degree in the relevant subject matter for the position.
