Job Description:

The Assistant Bowling Coach is responsible for recruiting, on the floor or field coaching, and fundraising. The Assistant Bowling Coach must have the ability to effectively communicate with students, parents, fellow coaches, and tournament directors; is able to effectively communicate with potential recruits and their parents regarding the academic programs, student services, and athletic programs offered at SUNY Schenectady County Community College; is required to travel with the team to away contests that may include evening and weekends. Previous coaching experience with AAU programs, high school, or college preferred. The stipend allocated for this part-time position is paid by the SUNY Schenectady Student Government Association Student Activity Fees.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Behave in a professional manner at all times; serving as an agent of the College and the Student Government Association
• Directly supervise and control their athletes at all practices and home/away matches
• Accompany the team to all away contests by riding with the team on the team bus
• Read, know, and understand the Mohawk Valley Conference Guidelines
• Read and understand all game competition rules
• Assist with any fundraising activities that are planned for following all rules of the College and the SUNY Schenectady Student Government Association Clubs and Organization Manual
• Understand and enforce the SUNY Schenectady Student Code of Conduct; understanding all expectations of all students at SUNY Schenectady whether on campus or off as well as how infractions will be adjudicated
• Assume duties and responsibilities in the absence of the Head Coach
• Other appropriate duties as assigned by the Head Coach
• Read, know, and understand the SUNY Schenectady Handbook with specific understanding of the programs of study and student services offered at SUNY Schenectady to assist with recruitment efforts
• Assist the Head Coach with maintaining all inventory (i.e., equipment, uniforms, etc..)
• Assist the Head Coach with recruitment and scouting efforts. Providing to the Head Coach annually, prior to December 1, a list that includes the personal contact information of all high school seniors who participate on high school teams in the Capital District.
• Assist the Head Coach with contacting all athletes (to include possible recruits and returning players) at least once prior January 1 of each year. Any notes of these initial contacts will be forwarded to the head coach.
• Accompany the head coach, when requested, in traveling to local games to watch potential recruits

Requirements:

Minimum Requirements:

• Associate’s Degree or higher
• Coaching experience required
• Has the ability to effectively communicate with students, recruits, parents, fellow coaches, and tournament directors

Preferred Requirements:

• Previous coaching experience with AAU programs, high school, or college preferred
• Previous experience with fundraising preferred

Additional Information:

Salary: $3,000/academic year
