Position Summary
The Information Technology Consultant (ITC) – Career will coordinate and administer the development and maintenance of the School of Art and Design’s digital media classrooms (computer labs); provide IT service and support for the School’s digital fabrication lab, artmaking studios, galleries, office and conference spaces, and card-access key box; provide support for and consultation regarding the technology needs of the School’s faculty and staff; facilitate interdepartmental coordination and communication; act as the School’s technology liaison to the IT Division; liaise with vendors and suppliers in coordination with the School’s Fiscal Accounts Coordinator; provide student, faculty, and staff instructional assistance; administer specifications, installation, and maintenance of faculty and staff computers and software; and train, supervise, and coordinate student staff members.
This position is technical and requires skills and expertise in the installation, administration, and maintenance of hardware and software in a primarily Mac environment that includes digital-media classrooms (computer labs), a digital fabrication lab, artmaking studios, galleries, office and conference spaces, and a card-access key box.
The role of the ITC requires the relevant skills and expertise to maintain communication between the School and the IT Division regarding the School’s IT assets, needs, and procedures; develop and implement policies and procedures for utilization of the School’s digital media assets; provide consultation to the School for all IT needs, including short- and long-term planning; and develop and disseminate security, instructional, and informational resources for the School and any other users of its managed digital media assets.
This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent/probationary position. This position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.
Department Summary
The School of Art and Design in the College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts is a creative learning community in which students develop their practice as artists, designers, and art historians who work in and across media while enhancing their visual, material, and conceptual thinking. Located on the Pacific Rim and at the border with Mexico, the School is dedicated to the integration of art, design, and community building in alignment with the School’s commitments to social / environmental justice and innovative entrepreneurship. Through both discipline-specific and multidisciplinary approaches to teaching and learning, the School supports students to innovate solutions, express ideas, imagine possibilities, and interpret the world through historical, cultural, and global contexts.

“CollegeIT”, is a department under IT Service & Support, and is responsible for the operation and technical support for the College of Professional Studies and Fine Arts. This includes the configuration, installation, and deployment of all computers and support of all applications and software within the College.

Education and Experience
To enter this classification, a basic foundation of knowledge and skills in technical information systems and application program packages is a prerequisite. A bachelor’s degree in computer science or related fields, or similar work experience in applicable fields. Foundation knowledge and skills for the Information Technology Consultant. Knowledge of common software application packages, equipment platforms, reference database systems and sources, and a basic understanding of networks.

Compensation and Benefits
Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $4,678 per month.
Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,678 – $11,547 per month.
