Position Summary

University Relations and Development (URAD) shares the university’s vision and mission underscored in the 2020 five-year strategic plan. The Executive Director, SDSU Alumni will assist the Vice President in developing the alumni engagement messaging and will be responsible for identifying alumni engagement staffing needs, formulating policies and managing operations. This position will oversee the university’s alumni engagement efforts and will be responsible for ensuring sound business practices and a high quality of service in all areas under his/her supervision including Annual Giving, lifetime membership, affinity contracts, chapters and communities, alumni communications including E-News, operation of the Parma, Payne, Goodall Alumni Center and alumni board of advisors.
The Executive Director, SDSU Alumni will work closely with the highest level campus administrators and academics; manage expectations, build support, reconcile competing interests, develop the strategies and programs necessary to ensure continued success by providing advice, analysis and recommendations to decision-makers on prioritization, planning and policy issues in relation to alumni engagement and will also serve as a member of the division’s leadership team.

This is a full-time (1.0 time-base) benefits-eligible, at-will position. This position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
This position is approved for partial telecommuting with onsite work in San Diego.

Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $130,000 annually. San Diego State University will offer a competitive salary based on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate. San Diego State University also offers a rich benefits package that includes:
