Position Summary

The College of Education (COE) prepares skilled personnel for positions in teaching, administration, counseling, and other roles in Pre-K-12 schools, community colleges/ postsecondary education, public agencies, and the entrepreneurial sector. The College of Education serves urban, suburban, and rural communities richly diverse in culture, language, and ability/disability through partnerships designed to improve life outcomes of children, youth, adults, and their families. The Office of Student Success (OSS) serves as the College’s “one-stop shop” for marketing, communications, recruitment, undergraduate advising, financial aid and credential admissions, advising and evaluation.
The COE Admissions Analyst/Specialist oversees the graduate and credential program admissions processes for the College of Education (COE). The incumbent implements and oversees all internal college admissions processes and is responsible for ongoing problem solving and troubleshooting issues related to transcript and documentation uploads and application submission. The COE Admissions Analyst/Specialist position requires constant monitoring of the status of applications submitted, using a variety of computer platforms and software solutions including Cal State Apply, Peoplesoft, Interfolio, On Base, SIMS/R, SDSU WebPortal, and WebAdmit in addition to programs/systems used in the future. The incumbent works independently to manage the workflow throughout the admission cycle–giving direction to other staff members who are involved in the process. They manage multiple ongoing admissions processes to meet varying deadlines throughout the entire application cycle.
The incumbent supports the COE Data Analyst/Programmer in ensuring that prospective and implemented application systems fit the needs of our COE programs and that all applicants are able to use the system(s) to successfully apply to their program(s) of choice. A focus on ease-of-use of the programs as well as clarity in process instructions and procedures is crucial to this work. The incumbent is responsible for identifying areas of concern in relation to the prospective students’ ability to use these system(s) and suggests ways to correct and/or improve the application process.

Full-time, permanent (probationary) position. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
This position is physically located at the SDSU Main Campus in San Diego.
Education and Experience
Entry to this classification requires general knowledge and skills in the applicable administrative and/or program field with a foundational knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.

Compensation and Benefits
Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $5,000 per month. Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,897-$5,000 per month.
SDSU Vaccine Policy
In accordance with the California State University systemwide policy, students, faculty, and staff must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or provide a valid medical or religious exemption in order to access campus. Individuals are considered fully vaccinated for five months after their final dose of a two-dose COVID-19 vaccine or for two months after receiving the only dose of a single-dose vaccine. Afterward a COVID-19 booster is required to continue to be considered fully vaccinated.
The individual hired into this role will be required to submit their completed vaccination documentation to the university’s secure online health portal prior to beginning work. Individuals with an approved medical or religious exemption on file with the university will be required to participate in SDSU’s COVID-19 testing program.
