Position Summary
This major responsibility of the Administrative Support Assistant II is to provide clerical support and serve as a receptionist to the Computational Science Research Center (CSRC) in the College of Sciences. Duties may include computer preparation of examinations, quizzes, correspondence, manuscripts and proposals, and as needed, any other clerical work required by program faculty, the program director, or the program Administrative Support Coordinator II. The ASA II will also be answering numerous telephone inquiries, taking messages, and greeting visitors.
Under the indirect supervision of the Administrative Support Coordinator II (Program Coordinator) in the program, the ASA II is also responsible for production of materials in support of the program’s instructional and research programs. In addition, this position serves as the Center’s Office receptionist.
This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, temporary position scheduled to end on or before September 30, 2024 with the possibility of reappointment. This position is designated non-exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.
Department Summary
The College of Sciences includes eight academic departments, five joint doctoral programs, in addition to centers and institutes including the ability to establish a cooperative working relationship with students, faculty, staff, and the general public.e Coastal and Marine Institute, the Center for Research in Math & Science Education, the Molecular Biology Institute, and the off-campus sites of the Biological Research Field Stations and Mt. Laguna Observatory. There are over 300 full and part-time faculty and more than 80 clerical and technical employees. There is a wide variety of interest both in teaching and research.

Education and Experience
Entry to this classification requires fundamental written and oral communication skills, including a sound foundation in English grammar, spelling, and punctuation; an ability to understand standard office procedures; an ability to operate standard office equipment; an ability to learn office technology systems; an ability to perform basic mathematical calculations; and typing and keyboard skills.
These entry qualifications would normally be obtained through completion of a high school program or its equivalent and some experience in an office environment.

Compensation and Benefits
Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $3,338 per month.
Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $3,338 – $4,913 per month.
