Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Security Operations, the Access Control and Security Coordinator will be responsible for supporting the mission of the Office of Housing Administration through the development of sustainable and ongoing procedures as it relates to access control and security on campus. Position is responsible for strategic access management for 8,500+ residents, 300+ staff members, and 10,000+ conference guests annually. This will include but is not limited to access control management, software maintenance and integration, scheduling electronic access, monitoring and ensuring mechanical key control, ongoing mechanical key audits, ongoing software audits and functionality review, and scheduling and maintaining all academic year, summer, and holiday access requirements.
The Access Control and Security Coordinator will also be responsible for reviewing, maintaining, auditing, and ensuring functionality of the 300+ camera video surveillance network within the Residential Hall and Apartment Buildings on campus. This responsibility includes the timely review of a variety of private and potentially sensitive footage that may include students and visitors. The incumbent must have the highest level of professionalism and integrity.
Additionally, the Access Control and Security Coordinator will be responsible for assisting with the management, distribution, and collection of the 17,000+ mechanical keys on campus.
The Access Control and Security Coordinator will be responsible for building, maintaining, and deploying ongoing security measures that will include partnering closely with Aztec Shops, University Police, Parking Services, Campus Card Office, and other campus partners/vendors/contractors.
The Access Control and Security Coordinator is a member of the Office of Housing Administration team. In conjunction with the Executive Director, Senior Associate Director, Associate Directors, Assistant Directors, other managers, staff, and students, this position assists in carrying out the mission, vision, and values, of the Office of Housing Administration and is responsible for supporting and contributing to an atmosphere that facilitates respect, inclusivity, collaboration, and growth.
This is a full-time (1.0 time-base), benefits eligible, permanent/probationary position. This position is designated exempt under FLSA and is not eligible for overtime compensation. Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.
Department Summary
The Office of Housing Administration (OHA) is a self-funded operation responsible for planning, providing, and administering housing operations, services, and facilities with over 100 employees and over 150 student assistants with an annual operating budget exceeding $136,000,000. OHA provides housing for over 8,500 students in 25 communities with over 2 million sq. ft. of residential facilities. The OHA manages the operation of residence halls, apartments, and conference and event spaces. The OHA supports the educational mission of the Residential Education Office (REO) while providing business operations for all housing-related functions in support of a quality environment to enhance the student educational experience.

Education and Experience
Entry to this classification requires general knowledge and skills in the applicable administrative and/or program field with a foundational knowledge of public administration principles, practices, and methods. This foundation would normally be obtained through a bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.

Compensation and Benefits
Starting salary upon appointment is not expected to exceed $5,833 per month.
Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,170 – $7,545 per month.
