Job Description

Summary Description:
San Bernardino Valley College is seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to provide leadership, engagement, discipline expertise, and student support in the area of Commercial Music to spearhead new programs and curriculum within the Music department. As a fulltime faculty member at San Bernardino Valley College, the successful candidate will demonstrate commitment in supporting the educational goals of a culturally diverse community of learners.
Responsibilities
1. Develop, implement, and revise curriculum for a Commercial Music program and Music courses.
2. Teach a range of Commercial Music and Music courses at various levels.
3. Develop curriculum, including curriculum delivered via different modalities.
4. Facilitate a learning environment that encourages student success and retention.
5. Contribute to program evaluation, accreditation activities, committee work, and continuous improvement efforts of the institution.
6. Participate in departmental, college-wide, and community service activities.
7. Develop and maintain strong relationships with local high schools and teach dual enrollment courses.
8. Participate in recruitment and articulation activities with local schools, colleges, and universities.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s in music
OR Bachelor’s in music AND Master’s in humanities
OR the equivalent
Desirable Qualifications
1. Background in instrumental or vocal, and commercial music.
2. Active involvement in the commercial music industry.
3. Teaching experience
