Pediatric Call Center

The RN at the Pediatric Call Center serves as a source of information for parents when their pediatrician is not available. The RN answers the phone call from the caregiver and makes a trained assessment of the situation based on protocols, as appropriate to the ages of the patient. The RN makes a triage decision as to whether the child needs to be seen emergently (in one hour), urgently (within 6-8 hours), the next day for a scheduled appointment, or needs advice about home management.

• Uses the nursing process to provide quality care, as appropriate to the ages of the patient’s growth and development through the life cycle factors
• Educates patients, families and other members of the Pediatric Call Center system, as appropriate to the ages of the patient’s growth and development through the life cycle factors.
• Uses decision making, problem solving and leadership skills to effectively manage patient and system problems as circumstances require
• Practices effective interpersonal skills with staff, patients, families and community, as appropriate to the ages of the patient’s growth and development 

Requirements:

• Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey
• BSN preferred or must be obtained within three (3) years of hire date
• BLS certification required, as approved by the American Heart Association

Part time: Two 12 hour shifts per week, 1 weekday: 8pm to 8am and every other weekend: 8am to 8pm.
