Job Summary:
The Director of Development and Alumni Relations (DOD) will strengthen relationships with College and Foundation
stakeholders including alumni, community prospects and leaders, donors, RVC faculty, staff and retirees to cultivate engagement and bring
resources to Rock Valley College. The DOD will focus on alumni engagement, donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. The DOD will
lead and implement the annual giving program for the Foundation, to include sponsorships, athletic fundraising, as well as assist the CDO on
special fundraising campaigns and events. This individual will integrate annual, major, and sponsorship opportunities into the scope of
work. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Related duties may be assigned.
1. Engage and interact personally
with alumni, donors, prospects, community leaders, RVC Foundation Board members, and RVC faculty, staff, and retirees, regarding annual
fundraising initiatives of the Foundation.
2. Lead solicitation efforts for RVC Foundation’s annual giving program to include
RVC Athletics and RVC program-specific funds.
3. Plan, lead and manage Foundation and College sponsorship program to include Athletic
Booster Club, Starlight Theatre, and RVC student organizations.
4. Develop, execute, and manage the RVC Alumni Network program to
include marketing efforts, engagement events, and solicitations.
5. Create, alongside of CDO, annual schedule for outside granting
opportunities. Complete external grant applications to seek funds for the Foundation on behalf of the College.
6. Assist CDO with the
cultivation and solicitation of special campaigns, including athletic scholarship campaigns, and projects as assigned by the College.
7. Represent the Foundation at college and community events.
8. Represent the Foundation with stakeholders in the absence of the
CDO.
9. Attend and participate in Foundation Board meetings/initiatives.
10. Serve as Foundation’s website and social
media content creator and editor.
11. Participate in educational seminars and workshops for professional development and to keep
current with legislative changes that may affect donors/fundraising.
12. Interface with RVC Marketing and Public Relations staff in
promoting Foundation initiatives.
13. Serve as a team member in all routine functions of the Foundation.

the public.

4. Strong oral and written communication skills are
critical.
5. Possess strong administrative and organizational skills.
6. Assume responsibility; deal effectively with
problems, and exercise independent judgment when making decisions.
7. Conduct oneself in a manner that is acceptable and consistent
with department and college objectives, guidelines, policies and practices.
8. Must maintain a high degree of confidentiality
regarding donor records consistent with legal and professional standards pertaining to fundraising.
9. Creative, energetic and highly
self-motivated individual with strong public relations.
10. Demonstrate leadership skills.
11. Ability to work with diverse
personalities.
12. Must be flexible with schedule to accommodate special meetings, events, etc.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required.
1. A minimum of six years with demonstrated experience in gift acquisition, fund development, sponsorships, or sales.
2. The
individual must possess a proven understanding of fund development, higher education, communications, and/or sales/sponsorships.
3.
Superior written and verbal communications skills coupled with highly developed interpersonal skills.
4. Experience with Microsoft
Office.
5. Experience with Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge software preferred.
6. Excellent planning, organizational and
administrative skills required.
7. Must be flexible and open to changing priorities and managing multiple tasks simultaneously within
compressed timeframes and adhering to deadlines.
