POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for performing HR-related duties on a professional level and works closely with other members of the HR team to support the organization. The HR Generalist position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations, training, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, and employment law compliance.

POSITION SUMMARY:

• Maintains human resources records in the HRIS system (ADP Workforce Now) by recording new hires, transfers, terminations, changes in job classifications, merit increases; tracking vacation, sick, and personal time.
• Manages the hiring process for required paperwork, E-Verify, background checks, drug screens, reference checks, new hire orientation, benefits enrollment, etc.
• Processes employee separations and conducts exit interviews.
• Provide company policy and procedure guidance to employees and managers.
• Handles location FMLA leave administration process from the employee’s initial notice of the need for leave to the return to work.
• Respond to human resources-related inquiries from employees.
• Prepares and files reports of accidents and injuries at the establishment.
• Responds to employee relations issues such as employee complaints, workplace issues, harassment or discrimination allegations, and other complaints.
• Assists with the annual benefit open enrollment period.
• Completes reports for management as requested.
• Performs recruitment activities, and interviews, and evaluates candidates for select positions. Maintains records related to same.
• Assists with annual performance review process.
• Administer company safety glass and safety shoe program.
• Plan company events such as holiday parties, monthly birthday celebrations, family festivals, etc.
• Oversee employee-driven committees (Activities & Caring Committees).
• Performs other HR generalist duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field or equivalent in related work experience
• 3 or more years of experience as an HR Generalist
• SHRM-CP or PHR Certification is a plus.
• ADP experience is a plus

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• This position will be in a distribution office environment.
• Based: Cullman, AL

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• The job requires both sitting and standing and agile flexibility to move and connect equipment in various set-ups. Excellent vision, hearing, speech, and motor skills are required to perform essential functions of the job.
